What Is the Rising Stars List?
The Rising Stars list is compiled by Super Lawyers, an organization with the objective of matching consumers to skilled legal representation. Being named to the Rising Stars list is not easily achieved.
Attorneys must go through Super Lawyers' multiphase process:
- First, an attorney must be nominated. Typically, other lawyers nominate peers who they've seen in action. However, some nominees are identified through Super Lawyers' independent research.
- Second, candidates are evaluated on 12 critical indicators of achievement and professionalism. Areas they are rated on include verdicts and settlements as well as awards and honors. Some factors are worth more than others.
- Third, the lawyers who received the highest rankings in the first and second steps are then invited to serve on a blue panel review. The panel members rate candidates in their respective fields.
- Finally, attorneys with the highest scores from the previous three steps are included in the Rising Stars list. To be eligible for this distinction, the selected candidates must be 40 or younger or have been practicing law for 10 years or less. Only 2.5% of attorneys in each state are chosen for the Rising Stars list.
