Motorcycle Vs. Car Accident Caught On Tape

|

Many Texas drivers have begun videotaping their travels, for one reason or another. The footage can be useful if the driver either is involved in or witnessed a car accident. A motorcycle rider recently recorded a crash that injured the rider and passenger of another motorcycle.

Both riders -- and one passenger -- were out for a ride on a recent Saturday. As they traveled the Texas roadway, one of the motorcycles began to pass a slower-moving car. The video indicates that the rider was making the pass over a double yellow line.

Out of nowhere, the man driving the car he was attempting to pass swerved into him. The rider and passenger were both thrown off the bike. The rider who was videotaping the trip approached the driver, who stopped a short distance from where the crash occurred.

When he confronted the driver about striking the motorcycle, the car driver can be heard saying that he did not care that he hit the motorcycle more than once. The motorcycle rider was treated and released from the hospital. His girlfriend, however, was still in the hospital at last report. The Texas Department of Public Safety is attempting to determine whether the car driver intentionally swerved into the motorcycle.

In the meantime, the woman who was injured in this car accident may be facing a significant recovery period. During that time, she will likely incur a substantial amount of medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages. The injured passenger does not have to wait until the official investigation is concluded or for any criminal charges to be resolved before filing a personal injury claim against the party or parties deemed responsible for her injuries. Establishing negligence could mean a monetary judgment to help with the damages she has sustained, and will likely sustain in the future.
